Summer Savory (Satureja hortensis)

Summer Savory

Summer Savory

Summer Savory is an easy-to-grow herb with  attractive flowers and sweet, tangy-flavored leaves. Plants grow well in gardens and containers. The leaves are used in salads, soups, sauces, egg dishes, meats and vinegars. Plant Summer Savory seed beginning in mid-spring. To keep young plants coming, repeat sowing at monthly intervals. For an earlier start, sow indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Water regularly and fertilize when plants are 4" tall. Clip fresh young leaves and stems as needed. To dry, hang stems in a dry, dark, well-ventilated area. Store in an airtight container.
