Shipping overseas always seems to raise a number of questions from our customers. The following list provides the most commonly asked questions and answers. One thing you need to keep in mind is that seed is a biological/plant product and as such may be subject to specific import restrictions.
Q) Do you ship internationally?
A) Lorenz’s OK Seeds welcomes overseas customers.
Q) Can I import the seed I want?
This is a question we are unable to answer. Regulations vary greatly from country to country and it is not possible for us to keep up with these. Your country’s Agricultural Department or customs officials should be able to answer any questions of this nature as they have the most up to date information. We strongly suggest you make sure you can import seed prior to ordering.
Q) Which countries do you ship to?
We will ship to any country that allows the seed you require to be imported. The only exceptions are those countries that do not receive deliveries from the US Postal Service or UPS.
Q) Which carrier do you use for international shipments?
A) UPS or the US Postal Service.
Q) How do I determine shipping rates?
A) We will supply you with a shipping quote. The quickest and easiest way to get a quote is to us our contact form or call us. If you use the contact form please indicate what variety or varieties you require and the amount(s). Depending on time differences we usually reply within 12 hours. Around $20.00-$25.00 US will generally cover shipping between 30 grams and 225 grams of seed to Europe with the US Postal Service.
Q) As seed is a plant (biological) product will I have any customs problems?
A) Most countries require a phytosanitary certificate before they will allow seed to be imported. This is a certificate from our Agricultural Department stating that the seed has been inspected and has no diseases or pest infestations. The cost of this certificate is around $100.00 US. In some cases, small amounts of seed, 1 ounce (approx. 30 grams) or less can be imported without problems arising. However, we can not guarantee this. It is entirely up to your customs officials. The safest way to import seed is for you to determine what is required and to inform us.
Q) How long will it take for my seed to arrive?
A) We usually ask our customers to allow 10 to 16 days for delivery. This allows time for obtaining the phytosanitary certificate. However, we cannot predict the vagaries of international or what holdups may occur with customs etc.
Q)What payments does Lorenz’s OK Seeds accept for International orders?
A) We accept PayPal or Visa and Mastercard over the phone. If you choose to pay with PayPal we will send you a PayPal invoice for the amount due. If you live in a country not covered by PayPal payment must be by credit card. Note, you don’t have to be a member of PayPal to pay via PayPal.
Q) Will I have to pay duties on my seed?
A) Duties are not included in our pricing. Any importation charges will be paid by you.
Q) What if my seed doesn’t arrive?
A) Once we have shipped your seed and has entered the destination country tracking becomes impossible. As such, Lorenz’s OK Seeds cannot be held responsible for seed that does not reach it’s intended destination. While we do our best to ensure safe arrival the best way to do this is to follow the laws of the country the seed is being imported into, and this can only be done if you let us know exactly what is required.
