Lemon Mint (Monarda citriodora)
Lemon Mint (Monarda citriodora) is a long lived annual that produces beautiful, longlasting, and very large 2-3″ purple flowers on long 2-3″ stems. Plants are drought-resistant, preferring dry soil, but tolerating moist. Mass plantings provide spectacular beauty year after year.
Dried Lemon Mint flowers has a beautiful citrus aroma, and hummingbirds and butterflies love this flower.
Select a sunny location for Lemon Mint and plant in well drained soil during early spring or fall (recommended in mild climates). For best results, loosen soil with rake or hoe. Mix seeds with a cup of sand or other inert material and broadcast over planting area. Lightly rake seed into soil or cover with peat moss or similar light mulch. Keep soil moist untill plants begin to grow.
Lemon Mint requires little care. Water only when necessary.
